WHAT DO THE POLES READ ON?
It is not about a place to read – on an armchair, a chair or on the kitchen table. Nowadays there is much more posibilities. Let’s ignore the most obvious answer or a traditional, printed book. It is about the electronic media where a text is written in it – audiobook, e-book or website?
Library questioned the readers
In a study conducted by the National Library – “The state of readership in Poland in 2014″ – they asked 3,000 respondents aged 15 and over about their reading habits. One of the issues was related to contact with digital media contents. The survey respondents were asked about if they have ever read much text on a website or whether they had to deal with e-books or audio books.
What was the response?
As many as 32 percent of respondents said that at least once they read a long text on the Internet. That’s up about 25 points more than in 2012. Less than 21 percent of Poles have used e-books. Here, there was also an increase compared to 2012 but not so big because only about 15 percentage points. The least popular are e-books – only less than 12 percent of Poles have read anything on this device but it’s about 5 percent more than two years earlier.
